So the front driveshaft will always be turning when the front wheels are rolling. If you you had a vehicle with locking hubs that were disengaged then the driveshaft would not turn while you were in 2wd and you could turn the d/s by hand when parked.

The crawl ratio is different: 4:1 for Rubicon, 2.73:1 IIRC for everything else. 4H and 4L should be identical, other than crawl ratio.
