The new ones came with 12-point non-locking nuts requiring a 3/8" socket. The ones that came off the old bolts were six-sided locking nuts requiring a 1/2" socket. The contacting surface of the new 12-pt. nut is actually slightly larger than the old nuts, if that matters.

Witryna8 lip 2024 · Many a Model T and other vintage cars with rebuilt con- rods have these modern bolts and nuts and on Model T are just torqued to 35 foot pounds and they stay on! ... I use aircraft locking nuts on my model A Ford rods, and still use locktite, it's cheap. Loctite and/or JB Weld on spun bearings. Works great to get that trade-in down the auction line without a knock.... Automotive Machining, cylinder head rebuilding, engine building. WitrynaThe coil replaces the original threads. Essentially you drill out the hole with the correct bit size. You can then tap the hole and insert the coil. After the coil is inserted you then bust off the tang. Sometimes you can use Loctite to secure the coil. Allow it to dry for a while then you can screw in your bolt.
