WebYes. Stone is better, but bed material is not that crucial. Before you use your stone for beds, make sure all your walls, pavements and sculptures are already built. Using precious metals for beds is somewhat viable, but only in the very late game. However, I find that you either don't need that extra +2 to mood at that stage.

Use Marble to build beauty object from, it has the best beauty (Slate & Sandstone has the least). Granite is pretty scarce in my map so I might have to go with limestone.
